Clinical Info

Leukemias and lymphomas are characterized by the presence of clonal B-or T-cell populations. Rearrangement of the antigen receptor genes occur during the ontogeny of B and T cell lymphocytes. The rearrangements are unique in length and sequence for each cell. The T-cell receptor genes in T-cells are composed of 4 different chains α, β, γ and δ. Each one is the product of rearrangement of the Variable, Diversity, Constant and Joining regions of the respective genes. Each B- and T-cell has a single productive V-J rearrangement that is unique in both length and sequence.
