Thyroglobulin and Thyroglobulin Antibody

Clinical Info

Test includes Thyroglobulin (Tg) and Thyroglobulin Antibody (anti-Tg).
Measurement of thyroglobulin concentration is recommended for monitoring of persistence or recurrence/metastatic disease in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer after total thyroidectomy (with or without radioiodine ablative therapy).

Result Interpretation

This result was obtained using the Roche ELECSYS electrochemiluminescence assay. Results obtained using different assay methods cannot be directly compared due to differences in immunoassay design and antibody epitope recognition.

Note: The presence of thyroglobulin autoantibodies can interfere with the measurement of serum thyroglobulin.

American Thyroid Association Therapy Response Classification Threshold Values Among Patients With DTC

Excellent Response = Suppressed Tg < 0.2 ng/mL

Indeterminate Response = Suppressed Tg 0.2 to < 1.0 ng/mL
