This test is used to evaluate glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency. G6PD deficiency, an X-linked disorder, is the most common enzymatic disorder of red blood cells in humans, affecting more than 400 million people worldwide

Specimen 8 mL Whole Blood  (3 mL min) from umbilical cord - Tubes must be well mixed to avoid clotting.
Minimum volume:  HgB- send two 500uL lavender microtainer filled to at least 50% 
     and
 G6PD- 0ne lavender top (EDTA) tube
