Acceptable specimens include but not limited to body fluids, tissues, wound ESWABs, CSF, nails, hair, and skin scrapings.

See individual fungus culture listings for appropriate specimen.
Note:  Specimen source is required on request form for processing.
 
Fungal smears can be submitted on clean slides. 
For corneal scrapings smear prepare two smears by rubbing material from spatula,
onto 1- to 2-cm area of slide.

If this is ordered on a CSF specimen, a fungal culture will be added.


Culturette swabs are not acceptable for KOH slides.
