Collection Instructions

Draw blood in a light blue-top (3.2% sodium citrate) tube(s). Fill tube(s) completely. Invert several times to mix blood. Spin down and place 1 mL of citrated plasma into 2 plastic vials each containing 0.5 mL of citrated plasma.
Note:  1. If no other tube is drawn, draw a discard tube.
2. If there is a delay in transport, spin down, remove plasma, spin plasma again, and place 1 mL of platelet-poor plasma into 2 plastics vials each containing 0.5 mL of platelet-poor plasma. Send specimen frozen. Double-centrifuged specimens are critical for accurate results as platelet contamination may cause spurious results.

If the AT3 functional is abnormal low (<85) the AT3 Antigen (AT3 IMMUNO) reflexes at an additional charge.
