Collection Instructions	Container/Tube: Gold top for the 3 cortisol and one Lavender for the ACTH Baseline Specimen: ACTH 1.5 mL EDTA Plasma (0.3 mL min) Cortisol Baseline, 30 min and 60 minute specimens 1 mL serum (0.5 mL min) Transport Temperature: ACTH- Frozen Cortisol Refrigerated Collection: ACTH Baseline Before injection Lavender-top tube 1.5 mL of EDTA plasma (0.3 mL minimum) Centrifuge, separate and freeze plasma ASAP Frozen: specimen is not stable at ambient temperature Cortisol Baseline Before injection Gold Top tube 1 mL of serum (0.3 mL minimum) Centrifuge and separate Refrigerated Cortisol 30 min 30 min after injection Cortisol 60 min 60 min after injection Record the date and time of collection on the tube and, if not indicated, the test names ACTH Baseline, Cortisol Baseline, Cortisol 30 min, or Cortisol 60 min This test cannot be performed at a Patient Service Center because it requires intravenous injection by a physician or other qualified medical professional.
