Collection Instructions

Specimen Type - Whole Blood, Cord Gas Venous
Deliver to lab immediately. Samples must have collection time written on the Cerner/FOD label. Samples must be collected in a 1-3 mL self-filling plastic, disposable blood gas syringe or capillary tube pre-filled with an appropriate concentration of lithium heparin. Due to the permeable nature of plastic syringes, it is recommended that syringes be kept at room temperature as long as the blood is analyzed within 30 minutes of collection

Transport Instructions

Specimen Stability

Send to lab within 15 minutes. Transport at Room Temperature. Test must be performed within 30 minutes of collection. Add-ons are not permitted
