Clinical Info

Malaria PCR, Molecular Detection is the recommended test for all suspected cases of Malaria. This assay provides significantly faster turnaround time and more accurate results than traditional blood smears.  A result of "Detected", "Indeterminate", or "Invalid" will automatically reflex to a "P Blood", which includes a Rapid Plasmodium antigen test and a Giemsa stain for speciation and quantification. If parasite subsequent quantification is required, “Percent Parasitemia” should be ordered to monitor parasitic burden and successful treatment.
