The test is intended
to aid in diagnosing clinical vaginitis in symptomatic patients and detects Chlamydia
trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis,
and Mycoplasma genitalium.

Collection Instructions

1: First-catch Urine.
Specimen
collection container: Aptima Urine Specimen Transport Tube (Yellow label); Specimen
Volume: 15 to 20 mL in primary collection container, then transfer 2 mL
urine from the primary collection container into Aptima urine transport tube.
Collection Instructions: 
1) Patient should not have urinated for at least 1 hour prior
to specimen collection. 
2) Patients should collect the first-catch urine (approximately
20 to 30 mL of the first part of the stream) into a sterile and preservative-free
container.

       
3) Within 24 hours of collection, transfer 2 mL of urine into
the Aptima Urine transport tube using the disposable pipette provided. The
correct volume of urine has been added when the fluid level is between the
black fill lines on the urine transport tube.
2: Vaginal swab

collection container: Aptima Multitest Swab Collection Kit (Orange label); Specimen
Volume: 1 swab

Instructions:  1) Insert swab (pink shaft) about 5 cm past introitus and rotate
gently for 30 seconds. 
2) Place the swab into the transport tube and carefully snap
off swab at score line against the side of the tube.
3) Cap the transport tube tightly and label the tube with
patient's entire name and collection date and time.
3: Endocervical Swab

collection container: Aptima Unisex Swab Specimen Collection Kit (White label); Specimen
volume: 1 swab
Collection Instructions:
1) Use cleaning swab (white shaft in the package with red
printing) to remove excess mucus from endocervix/cervix.
2) Discard the cleaning swab.
3) Insert the specimen collection swab (blue shaft in the
package with green printing) 1 to 1.5 cm into endocervical canal and rotate
swab gently for 30 seconds. Avoid touching vaginal wall when removing swab.
4) Place the blue shaft swab into the transport tube and carefully
snap off the swab at score line against the side of the tube.
4: Male
Urethral Swab

volume: 1 swab
Collection Instructions: 
1) Patients should not have urinated for at least 1 hour prior
to collection.  2) With a rotating movement, insert swab (blue shaft) 2 to 4
cm into urethra.  3) Once inserted, rotate swab gently at least 1 full rotation
using sufficient pressure to ensure swab comes in contact with all  urethral
surfaces. Allow the swab to remain inserted for 2 to 3 seconds.  4) Place swab in transport tube and carefully snap off swab at
score line against the side of the tube. 5) Cap the transport tube tightly and label the tube with
patient's entire name and collection date and time.
