Collection Instructions

Vaginal
1. Remove excess mucus, secretion, or discharge. 
2. Insert swab into vagina about 2 inches (5 cm) inside the opening of the vagina
3. Rotate swab gently for 10-15 seconds
4. Return swab to ESwab transport tube to ensure specimen preservation.
5. Label tube with patient’s name (first and last), date and actual time of collection, and type of specimen.
Penis
1. Remove excess mucus, secretion, or discharge. 
2. Swab penis glans for balanitis with sterile culture transport swab.
3. Rotate swab gently for 10-15 seconds
3. Return swab to ESwab culture transport tube to ensure specimen preservation.
4. Label tube with patient’s name (first and last), date and actual time of collection, and type of specimen.
