Specimen: Nose, axilla, groin or umbilicus.
Collection Instructions
Nares Collection:
1. Insert swab into one anterior naris.
2. Apply slight pressure to the nostril and rotate swab to sample the inside surface.
3. Insert the same swab into the other naris and repeat.
4. Place swab into swab transport tube.
Axilla, groin, umbilicus Collection:
1. Swab the surface of the superficial skin area.
2. Place swab into swab transport tube.
Rejection criteria:
Nasal, groin, axilla or umbilicus specimen- culture swab or Eswab >3 days old
