Clinical Info

Clinical Significance
Strongyloides Antibody (IgG) - Strongyloides stercoralis is a parasitic nematode found in tropical and subtropical regions. Because of low larval densities in feces, stool examination is a relatively insensitive diagnostic test; antibody detection offers increased sensitivity. Patients with latent infections who are immunosuppressed or receiving immunosuppressive therapy are at risk of life-threatening hyperinfection. Significant crossreactivity may be observed in other helminth infections.
