This test is a multiplex PCR panel for the detection of multiple bacterial, viral, and parasitic causes of diarrhea. This test alone is adequate in the majority of patients with prolonged diarrhea and Stool Culture and Ova and Parasite Examination are superfluous. Specimens positive for Salmonella, Shigella/EIEC, E. coli (shiga toxin-producing), Vibrio, and Yersinia are automatically reflexed to culture. |
